Harmen & Hennie Hoekstra
The Owners Harmen and Hennie Hoekstra have 3 children, Roy, Melanie and Chantal. They immigrated to Canada from Holland in 1999. When they immigrated, they started a very successful dairy farm in Hunter River called Green Barn Farm. In 2006 they bought Marco Polo Land, when the previous owner passed away and his wife decided to sell the business. They operated both businesses for 5 years, and in 2011 they sold their dairy farm to concentrate on operating Marco Polo Land. Harmen and Hennie were both born and raised in Holland. Before they immigrated, Harmen was a dairy farmer and Hennie worked in the hospitality industry for many years. Both their families still live in Holland today, and do the occasional visit to Canada. After they sold their farm, they lived in the old Train Station here at Marco Polo Land but not long after, in 2011, they built their beautiful house here on the property and live in it year round.
