Site of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s Cavendish Home   |  Cavendish

“…it is and ever must be hallowed ground to me.” L. M. M Homestead fields, gardens, lanes, old trees surround the hallowed ground where Montgomery was raised by her grandparents, Alexander and Lucy Macneill – her home from 1876 to 1911 – where she wrote Anne of Green Gables. Authentic, serene and beautiful, this site gives visitors a real sense of the author and the inspiration for her writings. Bookstore/museum on premises. The Brackley Drive-in Theatre in Prince Edward Island opened in the mid-1950s under its original name of The Parkview Drive-in. In 1992, George, Linda and Robert Boyle of Winsloe, PEI purchased the drive-in and lovingly restored it to its original condition. Many hours were put into the restoration to establish its 1950s theme. Step back into the 50s when you enter the canteen, showing off its vintage Coca-Cola machine, jukebox, pinball machines and 1950s Morris Miner car. You cannot miss seeing our giant screen, over 5 stories tall from the ground and 70 feet wide — truly the best way to see any movie!

Full-size walk-through reconstruction of King Tut s tomb complete with wall paintings and finest reproductions of major artifacts found in the tomb. Jurrasic Bart’s Dinosaur Museum   |  Cavendish

A dinosaur museum on Prince Edward Island may seem a bit of a stretch but when you realize that the first Dinosaur remains found in Canada were found just a few miles from Cavendish then it might seem appropriate! Meet the “Island Dinosaur”, the first dinosaur found in Canada. See a T-Rex Skull and his leg, foot, and even his tiny brain. Also dinosaur footprints, eggs, babies and even Jurassic “Poop”. Real fossils and museum quality reproductions arranged in thought provoking hands-on displays and dioramas. Outside is a fascinating assortment of domestic animals in a pleasant farm setting. Joey’s Deep Sea Fishing   |  Rusticoville

  

Sail with Captain Jamie (bilingue) aboard the Julie Ann Jamie or the Reel Upgrade. 30-minute scenic sail from Rusticoville Bridge to fish the pristine waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence for mackerel and cod. Lucy Maud Montgomery Birthplace   |  New London

   

Lucy Maud Montgomery, author of Anne of Green Gables, was born in 1874 in this modest white and green house, decorated with authentic Victorian period pieces and overlooking New London Harbour. Special exhibits include the replica of the writer s wedding dress and personal scrapbooks containing copies of her many stories and poems. Browse through our books and gift selections.

Farmer’ Bank of Rustico & Doucet House Museums   |  Rustico

         

The Farmers’ Bank of Rustico, a National Historic Site, operated from 1864 to 1894 as the first people’s bank and is credited with being “the precursor of the credit union movement in North America”. The museum describes the settlement of the community by the Acadians and the establishment of the bank by Father Georges-Antoine Belcourt, and Genealogical Centre of Rustico Acadian families. The Doucet House (c. 1772) Acadian log house offers interpretive programs. Off-season visits by groups can be arranged by appointment, (902) 963-2194. Mon-Sat, 9:30 am-5:30 pm; Sun, 1-5 pm.
